Internet Troll Weev Sentenced To 41 Months

This morning Andrew Auernheimer, aka @rabite, aka weev, was sentenced to 41 months in Federal prison. He will also be on supervision for 3 years after his release and owes $73,000 in restitution. His lawyers promptly announced their plan to appeal.

His crime? Accessing iPad user information available publicly on the web, which should have been password-protected and encrypted. Now he is a felon under CFAA. Apple and AT&T suffered no such repercussions for their glaring security error.

Before his sentencing, Andrew left admins of #OpPenPal in charge of coordinating book shipments. Once we know where he is being held we will share information on how to send him books and letters. Keep an eye on this blog and @OpPenPal for updates.
